This year we got to spend it with them again! Unfortunately...not in a sunny, ocean setting....but it was great none the less! :) We drove up to KC that day, I stopped to take the engagement pictures I previously posted, then Rob and I treated ourselves to a fun dinner on the Plaza. You know, I have never been a big "New Years Eve" person...I've always thought the holiday can be kind of overrated and crazy. However, I'm starting to change my tune. During our dinner that night Robby and I got to spend a lot of time chatting about our year....and what the next year will bring. Now, having conversations like that isn't anything out of the ordinary or crazy...but there is something symbolic about talking about those things as the year is really turning over. We had the same kind of conversation on our anniversary this year....it really is just so exciting to think about all the changes the last year has brought us...and kind of the unknown of what the next year will bring. The fun thing for Will and Katie is that their anniversary falls on New Years Eve....so they can wrap those conversations all into one. In fact....Katie blogged about a really great tradition they have. Maybe it is something Robby and I should start up soon!
Anyways...on to the party! After dinner we headed over to the Messamores to get some quality time in with them before everyone else started showing up! And I'm so glad we did! We went from living two minutes away from them to two and a half hours away....we have missed our friends!
Katie is a supreme party planner. Seriously....she can be so creative! I know I have mentioned before how much I enjoy the wives of Robby's best friends...but I don't know if I have told you that I enjoy them so much I would love to go into business with them! :) Haha! We always talk about how we should start up a "one stop shopping" wedding store....Katie would design invitations (she loves letterpress anything and everything!:) and be the general wedding planner, I would be the photographer, then Kristin (Dan's wife who is an interior designer) would do flower arrangements and help with the overall reception decor! Haha...all we need is a baker! :) Since Kristin and I already live in the Wichita area....now we just really need Katie (and Will of course) to move down this direction!!! Come on guys....Will can do his last two years of Med School in Wichita, right? :)
It bode well for Katie (and the party) that she is a teacher and had the whole week between Christmas and NYE off to work on this party. :)
They held a beer tasting event all before midnight, then we watched the ball drop and lit sparklers!
Everyone was mesmerized by the ball drop....:)
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!
Happy 5th Anniversary!!! :)
It was
Katie and her maid of honor!
With the wind (and no flash) it made pictures a little difficult. Despite the blurriness and crazy hair...these all made me happy. :)
And the happy couple themselves....thanks for having us up guys! We had a great time...and loved being able to celebrate with you!
Love it. We miss you!
